Parent Governor
The governing body has four elected parent governors. We currently have two vacancies due to the expiry of the terms of office of two governors.
Being a governor is an important role as it is they who assume overall responsibility for the school. There are three full governing body meetings per year, and governors also belong to committees who meet a further three times. A programme of training is both available and encouraged.
Some parents think they do not have the correct skills and are modest about belonging to this group. But it is just a group of ordinary people who are interested in the school and who are willing to work hard to make St George's School the best it can be.
We are now inviting nominations for this position. Any parent of a registered pupil of the school is eligible for nomination by another parent. The term of office is four years. If you nominate a parent, you should speak to them first to make sure they are willing to stand for office. A nomination form can be found and downloaded below. The deadline for return of the nominations is Friday 28 April at noon.
If you are nominated for the position, you will need to complete a 'declaration of eligibility' form which can also be downloaded, or a paper copy can be sent to you on request. You will also need to write a short statement about yourself (about 200 words) for distribution to parents.
If more than 2 nominations are received, an election will need to be held and ballot papers distributed so that a vote can take place. In this instance, all parents will receive a copy of the statements along with a ballot paper for recording votes.
Those elected will receive all the help and support we can offer.
For further information, please do not hesitate to contact Mr O'Rourke via the school office so that a meeting can be arranged in person, by phone or by video call.
