The Wednesday Word
The Wednesday Word was produced so that families could share the meaning of Sunday’s Gospel together. To help continue to build links between home, school and parish, all children in the Juniors will have the opportunity to bring home a special Wednesday Word book once a week, on a Wednesday. Children, with the support of their family, are asked to look through the Wednesday Word sheet and either write, type or draw something that they’ve learnt from the Gospel reading. Children can write a recount of the Gospel and say what they’ve learnt from it, or write a poem or a prayer. Children can answer some of the reflective questions given, or think about what the ‘Wednesday Word of the week’ means to them. Children can draw their understanding of the Gospel and annotate what they have drawn and why.
The Wednesday Word book is returned to school each Monday so that the child’s work can be used as part of the class’ liturgical preparation and celebration that week.
Please see below some examples of the reflections that the children have produced. We hope this is helpful to you and your child/children for when you receive the Wednesday Word book to take home.
