Enfield School’s Cross Country Competition, St. George's triumph!

Fantastic result for the Cross Country team from St.George's!

On Friday 8th March, a team of children from Years 3 and 4 competed in Enfield School’s Cross Country Competition.  We took 19 competitors who all ran really well and competed the 1.5km course.  Our girls’ team ran first and came third overall.   Our boys’ team won their competition dominating the race by having positions 1, 2, 3 and 4!

The organisers commented to all the schools at the medals ceremony that ST. George’s were now running the “Daily Mile” and that they could all follow our example to improve their fitness.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the event, which their comments reflect:

“I started fast and kept it going.”

“When someone tried to overtake me I sprinted.”

“Challenging and fun and you needed a lot of stamina.”

“A really good experience and you need self-belief to do this.”

“I was proud of the contribution I made to sport.”

“I’m proud of all the team and especially those that came first.”

“I was proud of all the red shirts coming through.”

“When I finished I had barely any breath.”

“I felt proud to represent the school.”

“I was proud of my finish and would love to have this experience again.”
