Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament

This morning, children in KS2 had Benediction and a Corpus Christi Procession led by Fr. Witon and Fr. Chinedu. They sang hymns including ‘O Sacrament Divine’ and 'Tantum Ergo' and also prayed in litanies before the Blessed Sacrament, which was exposed on the altar in a Monstrance and surrounded by candle light. At the end, Fr Witon, with his shoulders enveloped in a humeral veil, took the monstrance into his hands and blessed the children with the sign of the cross (hence the name Benediction).

Children were reminded beforehand to think of some special intentions they would like to pray for e.g. family, friends.  It was a lovely way to mark the beginning of 'Adoremus'.
